KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit fares to rise from 1 January 2027

Travellers heading to or from Kuala Lumpur International Airport by train will pay more from next year. Express Rail Link (ERL), the operator of KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit, has announced new fares that take effect on 1 January 2027.

What changes

  • KL Sentral to KLIA Terminal 1 or 2, one-way adult: RM65, up from RM55
  • Return adult fare: RM118
  • Child fare (ages 6 to 15), one-way: RM29
  • Children under 6: free
  • KLIA Terminal 1 to Terminal 2: RM2

Fares to stations along the KLIA Transit line are also rising. For example, the adult fare from KL Sentral to Putrajaya & Cyberjaya will be RM16.60.

Why fares are going up

ERL said this is the first fare revision since 2016. It pointed to significantly higher operating and maintenance costs, and said the change is in line with its concession agreement with the government. The company added that it is working with partners on ticket discounts of up to 30% from January 2027, with details to be announced.

What it means for travellers

  • Trips before 1 January 2027 are charged at current fares.
  • Watch for the promised discounts before buying tickets in the new year.
  • If you’re travelling as a group, compare the train with e-hailing or airport buses, which can work out cheaper for several people.
